INSTALLATION PROCESS
Most floors (under 500 sq. ft.) can be installed in 1-2 days.
Installation Process for a Slab Foundation
- Poly Plastic is laid on top of dry/clean slab foundation
- 5/8th" Plywood is nailed to the slab foundation
- Tar paper is laid on top of plywood
- Hardwood is nailed to plywood
- Floor will need to set for 7-10 days to acclimate to the home. Any less time desired by the customer will void the warranty on the wood and release Boule' Wood Floors of any responsibility for expansion of the wood.
* Pier and Beam foundation does not require installation of plywood
SANDING
The floor will be sanded with the Bona Dust Containment System and also the adjouning rooms will be taped off with plastic to offer another barrier to contain the dust. This will help contain the dust, but cleaning of your home will be necessary once the sand process is complete. This is the responsibility of the customer, not Boule' Wood Floors.
STAIN AND FINISH PROCESS
The wood will be stained to the color of your choice. We will help you select a color that will compliment the colors in your home. The stain is designed to penetrate and seal the wood. A coat of stain takes the place of a polyurethane coat. A finished floor will contain 1 coat of stain and 2 coats of polyurethane. A natural finish floor takes three coats of polyurethane with no stain coat.
Each coat of polyurethane must be allowed to dry for a period of 8-12 hours before applying another polyurethane coat (it could take additional time due to the humidity levels in the air).
Once the FINAL coat of polyurethane is applied, PLEASE ALLOW 24 HOURS for the polyurethane to completely dry. It is important that your air conditioning unit be set to 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit to assist the drying of the polyurethane.
